My first official short film

The Hook is a comedy coming of age movie that tells the story of Carlo, an Italian teenager faced with a dilemma:

Should he stay in his hometown with his best friend and family, or accept a job on a distant island fated to disappear under rising sea levels?

Entirely shot in my hometown, Trieste, the film reasons about the uncertain future the upcoming generations will have to face.

FESTIVALS AND AWARDS

The Hook had its premiere at the prestigious first edition of the Sony Future Filmmakers Awards in February 2023 and from there started its journey around many important festivals all around the world

EXTENDED SYNOPSIS

Carlo, a 19-year-old teenager has a very content life in the city of Trieste. His life revolves around his grandmother Sandra and his best friend Federico. The deadline for a job-offer in Tuvalu is approaching fast and Carlo is lured by Federico’s idea of home and disdain for the rest of the world. With Tuvalu set to disappear due to rising water levels and Federico using Trieste as an emotional anchor, will Carlo be able to leave home and his only world to find himself thousands of miles away on a sinking island?
The Hook is a story of relationships, friendship, trust, and a slice of life. Carlo, Federico, and Sandra will take you on an emotional yet fun rollercoaster ride. Jump on with them and live this experience!

The Crew of the Hook was very diversified and had two main souls, one Italian and one more international and Berlin based. Counting all the crew we find 8 different nationalities and between the Italians 6 regions of origin.
